Increasing Attendance for Marquette Women's Basketball
Date
September 2024 - March 2025
While working with Marquette Athletics for the 2024-2025 season and was tasked with helping increase attendance for our Women's Basketball team. My objective was to help increase the attendance of the team at the Al McGuire Center. During the 2023-2024 season, our Women's Basketball team averaged 1,700 spectators a game. To increase the average number of spectators per game we needed to 1) Have two or more groups per game, 2) Create a marketing plan with enticing promotions and themes to get fans at the game, and 3) Increase the amount of students and clubs at each game.
I helped work on our Marketing Plan for Women's Basketball giving suggestions on different themes and ideas for each of our Women's Basketball games. Then, I used feedback from my bosses to help identify the best themes and how they would work logistically with our partners. In addition, depending on the dates and times of the games I helped put specific themed games and giveaways when students were on or off campus. Throughout the season I also created and maintained a spreadsheet that contained contact information for over five hundred schools, club teams, and dance groups in Wisconsin. While also having information on every club, sorority, and fraternity at Wisconsin. Throughout the year I reached out to everyone on the contact sheet trying to get different groups to games. Once I got confirmation that the group I then shared their information with our ticket sales team to sell the tickets.
Throughout the season we had great crowds at all of our games and sold out the Al McGuire Center Twice. The head coach of the team also mentioned how good the crowd was at multiple games. We had a 25% increase in tickets sold throughout the season getting an average of about 2,100 spectators for our home games.
